Accumulation water heaters for villas

 Accumulation water heaters for villas

Warm water is required not only in urban apartments, but also in the country houses, especially if the whole warm season to live on a summer cottage with the whole family. The best choice for most vacation homes is to install a storage heater.

Advantages

  • The device heats a large volume of water at once and maintains its temperature for some time.
  • Accumulation model can be used even in the absence of mains water supply.
  • Such equipment capacity is usually small, so the heater can be installed at the cottage without any problems.
Accumulation water heaters of different volume

One device can supply hot water to several taps at once.

Disadvantages

  • Heating the water drawn into the storage boiler requires a lot of time. The larger the unit, the longer it will take to heat water.
  • The amount of water heated is limited.
  • A gas heater at the site requires a gas line or a cylinder with liquefied gas.

Accumulation devices should be serviced regularly.

Design and principle of operation

The body of the heater is usually made of metal or durable plastic. There is a layer of thermal insulation between it and the tank of the device. Cold water enters the tank through one tube, which is located at the bottom of the device. As the water heats up, it rises to the upper part of the device, from where it is taken by the second tube, which provides hot water from the faucet.

The device storage water heater

The bottom of the body has a supporting flange that serves as a mounting point for parts such as a heating element, a magnesium anode and a thermostat. FEN is responsible for heating water, thanks to the anode inside the device does not form scale, and the thermostat is needed to control the heating of water (it triggers if the water heats above the permissible parameters).

How the storage water heater works

Types of

Gas

Such water heaters work on gas, which comes to them from the centralized gas network or a gas cylinder. They usually have a large capacity, so this heater is preferred in case of need for significant amounts of heated water. Since gas fuel is cheaper, these heaters are more economical.

Electric

These heaters use electrical energy for their work. They are equipped with a heating element of a certain capacity, which heats the water inside the tank. To regulate the temperature of water coming from the tank of such devices, a mixer is used.

An electric storage water heater

Why are storage electric water heaters for dacha so convenient?

  • Such a heater is easy to control.
  • It does not need to use natural or liquefied gas.
  • After heating water to the desired temperature, such a device turns off automatically, which reduces the waste of energy.

Modern devices have reliable safety systems.

Tips for choosing

  • First of all, assess the infrastructure networks of your dacha plot - whether there is a centralized gas and electricity supply, whether there is a centralized water supply, whether it is possible to connect communications in the future.
  • Next, decide on the desired capacity of the heater. If you will use it in the cottage only for kitchen needs, you can buy a device for 30 liters. If the cottage provides for a bathroom, then for two people a 50-liter heater will be enough, and for a family of 3-4 people you need a technics more capacious.
  • Deciding where to place the heater in the country, choose a horizontal or vertical model, and specify the allowable dimensions of the product.
  • On how durable the heater will be, prompt the tank material and its coating. Longest-lasting devices, which have a stainless tank - about ten years. Devices with titanium coating function for up to eight years, and cheap heaters with a tank treated with glass ceramic, work properly for only about five years.
  • Find out what kind of heating element is used in the selected unit. If it is "dry" (located in a special tank and not in contact with water), it will last much longer than a "wet" element.
  • Determine how much power the device is suitable for you. The higher it will be, the faster the water will be heated, inside the device installed in the country house.

Buying a boiler for dacha, specify what the control system in the selected heater. Electronic is more convenient to use, but the devices for dacha with mechanical control are cheaper.

Wiring diagram and installation

  1. Choose a suitable place with easy access to the device and the possibility of its maintenance.
  2. Prepare self-tapping screws and plugs, which will be needed when mounting the equipment on the wall.
  3. Connect the cold and hot water pipes to the heater.
  4. Install a safety group as well as a filter on the cold water inlet to the boiler.
  5. Check that all connections are tight.
  6. Connect the unit to the mains using a separate cable and an individual socket, as well as making a ground connection.

If there is no mains water supply, install a pump in a well or borehole to pump water inside the heater. It is also possible to install a water tank slightly above the heater so that the water flows by gravity into the heater tank.

Maintenance

Having installed a heater on a cottage plot, you should remember about regular maintenance of such equipment. First of all, you will need to periodically replace the magnesium anode. If you can not do it with your own hands, you can contact a specialist. In addition, the heating element is cleaned from time to time from the scale and flush the unit from the inside.
