All about Jacuzzi! Let's talk about paradise, shall we?

Jacuzzi is a bathtub with a hydromassage function. It is also called "Spa pool".

Today, most people associate this word with the words "rest", "relaxation", "comfort". And it is no coincidence! After all, the very definition of Jacuzzi says that this bath was developed for the prevention of a number of diseases and recreation.

History of Creation

The whole world owes the creation of the whirlpool bath to a family of Italians who emigrated to the United States in the early 20th century. The firm, founded in 1917, was named after the family name, Jacuzzi.Jacuzzi), but thanks to the American pronunciation it became Jacuzzi. The main fields of activity of the company were both the design of aircraft and production of agricultural pumps. It was not until more than half a century after the Jacuzzi family had arrived in America that one of the brothers, Candido, created the Jacuzzi. So in 1956, the first whirlpool bathtub was born, and soon the mass production was established.

The younger brother's son had rheumatoid arthritis and needed constant massage treatments. Then Candido Iacuzzi decided to equip the tub with an aeration pump that would allow the body to be massaged by a jet of water and air mixture. Subsequently, the Jacuzzi was refined and improved several times. The Jacuzzi family took out around 250 patents relating to Jacuzzis. Thanks to their inventiveness, the world got one of the best kinds of baths, combining in equal measure the pleasant and the useful.

Jacuzzi

Once thought that only very wealthy people can afford to install a Jacuzzi, but modern manufacturing technology and materials have made Jacuzzi available to all comers.

What is the difference between a Jacuzzi and a whirlpool bath?

This question is of interest to many people. It is often believed that a Jacuzzi must be "recessed" into the floor covering, but a whirlpool bath - no.

In fact, the answer to this question is quite simple: a Jacuzzi does not differ from a whirlpool bath, including the method of installation.

Jacuzzi is a bathtub equipped with a whirlpool function.

Functional purpose and benefits

Candido Iacuzzi created the hot tub to help his son treat rheumatoid arthritis. Today, it's hard to overestimate the benefits of hot tubs in the fight against musculoskeletal disorders. In addition, Jacuzzi have an excellent psychotherapeutic effect, helping to relieve stress, relax and normalize the emotional state.

Relaxing Jacuzzi

Often the jacuzzi is taken for couples, which allows you to strengthen the relationship with your loved one, relax and unload emotionally.

Interaction with water itself carries positive emotions. Massage effect of air and water flows gives good results in the treatment of diseases of the body and soul.

Pump and compressor

"The heart of the Jacuzzi is the pump and compressor. Without them, it is simply impossible to implement a hydromassage.

Smaller models of Jacuzzis often only have a pump. It presses the water in a system of spigots. Through air regulators and pressure difference, the water stream captures the air from the atmosphere (ejection principle). At the same time, the pressure of water jets increases. It is worth noting that such a bath can have a lower cost than models equipped with a compressor, but also the number of flow adjustments in them is limited. Jacuzzi, equipped only with a pump, is more suitable for relaxation and is unlikely to be effective in treating serious illnesses.

Jacuzzi pump

The best massage results can be achieved with a compressor, forcing air into the jets. This increases the pressure of the air-water flow, which can go up to 70 cm, without losing massaging power.

When choosing a Jacuzzi, special attention should be paid to the condition and quality of the compressor and pump. Any damage to the housing or faulty assembly can cause an electric shock (!).

Nozzle types

Jacuzzi jets are divided into 3 types based on the type of flow:

  1. Hydromassage .. Water is applied through small holes.
  2. Aeromassage .. Same principle, but a compressor pumps air that flows through the holes in the nozzle and into the tub in a stream of fine bubbles.
  3. Combined. When both water flow and air flow are delivered through a single nozzle.

The design of the nozzle depends on the type of directional flow of water, with what head it will be delivered and at what angle. Each manufacturer of Jacuzzi baths has up to a few dozen different designs of nozzles. For example, in addition to the standard sprayers, connected to a system of nozzles and a pump, there are models that independently take water directly from the tub and immediately eject it in a dynamic stream.

Depending on the area to be hydromassaged, the nozzles have different sizes. Larger nozzles are installed for the back and hips, smaller nozzles are installed in the neck and foot areas.

The simplest nozzles provide a direct emission of flow. There are also modern models, which are made rotary and allow you to change the direction of air and water jets. Some companies have developed nozzles that create a swirling mixture of water and air, which increases the massage characteristics of the hot tub.

Jacuzzi nozzles can be made of plastic or metal. The choice of material rather depends on your preferences than on the strength characteristics. But plastic jets still have a number of advantages:

  • They are not susceptible to corrosion. If you do choose metal nozzles, let them be brass
  • Plastic does not conduct electricity. This quality is especially relevant for acrylic bathtubs, where the use of plastic nozzles completely eliminates accidental electrocution due to irregularities in the pump or compressor.

For those whose aesthetic taste does not tolerate the look of plastic, the use of plastic nozzles with a metallic finish may be suitable.

Aero and hydro massage

Hydromassage in a Jacuzzi is carried out according to the following principle:

  • A pump draws water from the tub.
  • nozzles are fed with pressurised water through nozzles
  • The pressure of the water stream is pressurized with air by means of a compressor (it is possible to draw in air through regulators).
  • Directed, pressurised water-air current flows out of the nozzles, exerting an effect on the body.

Air massage jets are installed in various whirlpool models in the tub walls or in the bottom.

Aeromassage jets are characterized by miniaturization. Through them, a compressor blows air into the bathtub. The aeromassage in the whirlpool is more of a relaxation supplement than a treatment for ailments. The combination of aero and whirlpool massage in the whirlpool allows more than 10 massage modes to be programmed.

Control

How comfortable your hot tub is depends largely on something as small as the remote control.

The pneumatic remote control is used only to adjust the massage intensity. A really comfortable hot tub is equipped with an electronic remote control. It allows you to change not only the intensity of the flow, but also to switch modes of massage, maintain a given level and temperature of water in the bath. The most modern models of Jacuzzi have aromatherapy system, lighting, radio and TV, which are also controlled by remote control.

Shape and size of Jacuzzis

To afford to install a Jacuzzi, it is not necessary to be the owner of a spacious bathroom. Today stores offer many models of standard and corner bathtubs, equipped with hydro-massage system.

The minimum size of such baths can be 120x120 cm. for corner models and 150x90 cm. for asymmetrical rectangular baths.

The most popular size of a corner Jacuzzi is 150x150 cm, and the height usually ranges from 48 cm to 70 cm.

For spacious rooms suit jacuzzi models with an oval, round or rectangular font and dimensions of 160 to 200 cm in length and width, which allows you to take water procedures not just one person.

Jacuzzi of interesting shape

Corner jacuzzi models and small size models are installed in the corner or against the wall. Large jacuzzis should be installed in the center of the room.

Materials

The best materials for Jacuzzi baths are acrylic, methacrylic and Quarryl. They are excellent heat retaining and easy to mold, which is especially important when creating a complex geometry of baths.

Acrylic. Modern polymer material that increasingly replaces cast iron and steel in the manufacture of baths. It is 10 (!) times lighter than cast ironIt is almost 2 times slower gives out heat than cast iron, and does not rattle like steel when filling the tub with water. It is easy to mold and paint.

acrylic Jacuzzi

Metacrylic. Produced from polymethylmethacrylic granules. Baths made of methacrylic are 2.5 times lighter than acrylic models and 8 times stronger. This lightweight material perfectly withstands mechanical and thermal effects, is inert to the action of non-concentrated acids, has high rigidity and strength. It can also be used to make transparent baths, which is especially appreciated by designers. At the same time, methacrylic has better transparency than acrylic.

methacrylic whirlpool bath

Quarryl. This material is also made from polymethylmethacrylic, but with the addition of fine quartz sand. The addition of sand makes Kuaril bathtubs the most durable among polymer bathtubs. Such a bath retains heat very well, but its weight is somewhat higher than acrylic products. And the price of the bath will cost almost a third more expensive than its acrylic counterpart.

In addition to Jacuzzi made of polymeric materials, in plumbing stores you can also find models of cast iron or steel Jacuzzis.

Novelties

The first Jacuzzis, created by the Jacuzzi family, were equipped only with a hydromassage system. Over time, many models began to combine hydro and aero massage. Today manufacturers are introducing innovative systems such as ultrasound massage.

The combination of hydromassage and chromotherapy is also becoming increasingly popular. The Jacuzzi is equipped with light jets that illuminate the water jets with a preset color. With the electronic remote control you can not only choose a color, but also program its intensity and color change, the frequency of light pulsations, etc.

Selection tips

Buying a Jacuzzi, it is preferable to choose a model with a length of at least 150 cm and a depth of 42 cm to the overflow. In the bathroom of smaller parameters is quite difficult to fully relax.

Small jacuzzi

When buying a polymer Jacuzzi, pay attention to the following points:

  • The walls of the Jacuzzi should be at least 5-7 mm. It is especially important that this parameter is not violated in models with asymmetric and complex configuration.
  • The size of the Jacuzzi will determine whether you will be taking water procedures alone or in pairs.
  • The color of the product should be uniform, without any spots of different color or blemishes. Defects in the color indicate a bad production.
  • The surface of the products should be flat, without depressions and roughness, pleasant to the touch.
  • Check the fixing of handles and headrests, the quality of installed jets and their fixation in the body of the tub.

When purchasing a Jacuzzi, make sure the tub will fit through the doorway and the size of your bathroom will allow you to extend the Jacuzzi forward by about 50cm (for maintenance).

Prices and how they depend on

Pricing in the Jacuzzi market is determined by the following factors:

  • The material from which the Jacuzzi is made
  • Bath size
  • Set and power of electrical equipment (pump only or pump+compressor installed)
  • Number of massage modes
  • Options (music, radio, TV, lighting)
  • Bath design

Naturally, the author's design is not cheap, and quite often a famous name of the manufacturer is reflected in the cost of a Jacuzzi.

As for the cost, the price for a standard or corner Jacuzzi bath starts at 25 - 30 thousand rubles. For an exclusive model of large size you can pay and 100 000 rubles, and you can pay 700 thousand.

Installation

Before buying and installing the Jacuzzi, you should make sure that the load-bearing structures of the room where the tub will be installed are solid. These requirements for each model are listed in the data sheet, but on average filled with a Jacuzzi generates a load of 225 kg per 1 sq.m. area.

Jacuzzi installation

The procedure of whirlpool bath installation is approximately as follows:

  • Checking the room for compliance with technical requirements. Preparation of the room.
  • Installation of water supply and water drainage systems.
  • Installation of water filtration system before feeding Jacuzzi.
  • Installation of supporting frame.
  • Installation of the bathtub into the frame, leveling.
  • Installation of the electrical installation of the Jacuzzi (the pump is placed under the tub or is installed with the compressor and extra. equipment in the designated location).
  • Connection of the Jacuzzi hydraulic system to the water supply and sewerage, checking the connections.
  • Connection to the power grid. Obligatory grounding.!
  • Installation of decorative screen.
Jacuzzi with decorative screen

The Jacuzzi of a rectangular shape is installed at least 6 legs, corner models - 8 legs. The legs must have height adjustment.

Jacuzzi installation

Any decorative screen that covers the bath must provide quick and easy access to connections.

The installation of a whirlpool bath is slightly different from the installation of a simple bath.

A conscientious manufacturer will always include a detailed datasheet on installation, use and care of the hot tub. However, it is better to leave the installation to professionals, as independent installation may void the warranty of the store.

The bulkier and more complex your Jacuzzi is, the more reliable the supporting structure should be. The ideal is to use a metal frame.

Jacuzzi installation

Before you buy, look at how to make hot tub repair and read about what causes breakdowns can occur. It's better to be aware of possible problems right away.

Big Jacuzzi - decided to spend a lot of money on it. All super, except for one thing, there is a minus: in a small bathroom hydro-massage feels better. And another thing: it takes a long time to get water in it.
