Features and advantages of a quarry bath

A few years ago, when choosing a new bathtub, we did not have to consider very many options. Bathtubs made of cast iron, steel, and later acrylic - that's all that the market of sanitary ware offered us. Today the situation has completely changed. Modern production technology combined with human imagination offers us many new solutions. With the appropriate financial resources we can choose from dozens of options. Do you prefer sanitary ware made of completely natural materials? Buy a marble or wooden bathtub. Do you like artificial modern materials? Opt for one of the synthetic compounds - vintage, cast marble or kvaril. About one of these innovative materials - kvaril bath and we will talk in our article.

What is kvaril
Quarile is the newest material that is used to produce bathtubs and shower trays. It is a synthetic compound of acrylic and quartz. The structure of the compound is as follows: a particle of quartz is enclosed in a round acrylic shell, and the space between these granules is filled with acrylic and additional impurities. Quartz in the composition of the compound is needed to provide greater rigidity and durability of the final product, acrylic adds elasticity, and the additional impurities are responsible for the color and texture of the product.

Manufacturing Technology
The technology of making quaternary was invented and patented in Europe by the German company Villeroy&Boch several years ago. Initially, quaril was used for restoring old acrylic baths that had lost their appearance. The use of the new technology will allow the manufacturer to create a new, more attractive, and cheaper alternative to the use of acrylic. Subsequently, it turned out to be superior to acrylic in many characteristics. Quaternary baths are cast in special molds. The product is so rigid that it does not need additional reinforcement. At the final stage of production, the surface of the bath is coated with a special varnish.
Main advantages and features
Quaternary bath has not only taken all the advantages of its predecessor - acrylic bath, but also got rid of many of its shortcomings.

Pros:
- Cavalry baths, like acrylic baths, first of all, attracted by their beautiful appearance. Shining white surface of such baths is their undeniable advantage over cast iron and steel products.
- They are much lighter than metal baths, but a little heavier than acrylic. The difference in weight between kvaril and acrylic bathtubs is due to the fact that the walls of kvaril bathtubs are slightly thicker. From this follows the following advantage of kvaril.
- They are thicker and therefore stronger than acrylic. They do not require additional, stiffening structures.
- The greater thickness and strength of kvaril baths affects their durability. The service life of such baths is even longer than that of acrylic. In addition, if it provides at least minimal care, in the course of operation, the kvaril bathtub will not lose its original appearance.
- Another property of acrylic, which is preserved by kvaril baths - excellent soundproofing. The surface of the bath absorbs the sound of pouring water. If you have thin walls at home or overly sensitive neighbors, you will definitely appreciate this advantage.
- The surface of kvaril baths is absolutely smooth, uniform, without the slightest roughness, but at the same time, completely non-slip.
- Quaral is characterized by excellent thermal conductivity. Water in such a bath cools down slowly, while the bath retains a pleasant body temperature.
- They are very easy to care forthanks to the flat, non-porous surface, on which dirt does not accumulate.
- Technology of acrylic bathtubs production allows producing only bathtubs with rounded edges. This disadvantage is completely eliminated in the generation of kvaril bathtubs. They are also made in rectangular shapes. A rectangular bathtub helps you save a little space by fitting exactly into the space allotted to it. Also, if you decide to tile your bathtub, it's much easier to do so if you work with straight, even lines.
- You can install a kvaril bathtub quickly and easily enough, without resorting to the help of professionals.
Disadvantages
Of course, the kvaril bath does not consist entirely of only advantages.
However, it has disadvantages, which are much less than the pros:
- The first and most significant disadvantage of such baths - it's a high price. It will cost you much cheaper than, for example, a bath of natural stone, but on average it is several times more expensive than cast-iron, steel or acrylic baths.
- Despite the fact that kvaril baths can boast a greater variety of shapes and sizes than their predecessors, they are still made by casting in prefabricated forms. Therefore, the choice of forms is still limited.
- Today only bathtubs and shower trays are made of kvaril, so quaternary bathtub is in some ways a unique product. Sometimes it is not easy to find an ensemble of matching style and color of the sink and toilet bowl.
- The strength of kvaril is higher than that of acrylic, but less than that of steel and cast iron. Consequently, the possibility of scratching the surface of a kvaril bathtub still exists. This disadvantage is not particularly significant, since the surface of a kvaril bathtub can be easily restored at home with a special paste.
- Despite the fact that the care of a kvaril bathtub is unpretentious, you should avoid the use of aggressive cleaning agents, which contain abrasive substances, as they can damage its surface.
- Quaril is afraid of exposure to high temperatures, Therefore, if often and for a long time to pour into a hot tub very hot water, it can deform.

Features of installation
Installation of the tub of kvaril in some points will be slightly different from the installation of other types of baths. At the very beginning of this article, we already mentioned that the quarian bathtub is quite rigid and therefore does not require additional support during installation. The frame in this case performs only decorative functions. For example, you can hide the space under the bathtub with a beautiful sliding screen and store various useful things behind it. Or you can cover the frame with the same tile as the walls of the bathroom, thereby creating a style and color unity of the room.
Usually the kvaril bathtub is installed on adjustable supporting legs. They allow you to change the height of the bath if necessary, as well as give the bath a strictly horizontal position.

The peculiarity of kvaril baths is that they do not have an overflow hole, and in some models there is no drain hole. Manufacturers do not make them so that you can choose the most optimal location of the bath in the room.
In order to drill the drain and overflow holes, you will have to resort to the services of professionals.

Installation of a kvaril bathtub is made in several stages:
- If a frame under the bath is provided, then first assemble and install it, so that the bath, installed on it, lay exactly horizontally. Use a spirit level to measure it more accurately.
- Then place the bathtub on the frame or on the feet and secure it to the support.
- Install the overflow drain on the bathtub and connect it to the drain.
- Install the faucet and valves. The convenience of kvaril bathtub is that you can install this sanitary equipment directly on its side.
- Now you need to check the tightness of the resulting construction. Fill the tub with water and leave it for a few hours. See if there are any leaks. You may need gaskets to fix them, plumbing sealant and more.

Prices
We have already talked about the fact that the cost of kvaril baths is much higher than steel, cast iron or acrylic. This is due to the fact that the production technology is fairly new, few companies had time to master it, so there is little competition in the market. In addition, the production of kvaril baths are mainly engaged in German companies that are famous not only for their excellent quality, but also far from the low price of its products.

Prices for kvaril baths range from 50 to 100 thousand rubles. The amount of money is really not small, but considering its excellent characteristics, if you buy a kvaril bath, you are unlikely to regret the money you spent.
Recommendations for care
Keeping a quarite bath clean will not be difficult even for the laziest hostess. Once or twice a week it is enough to wash it with any suitable cleaner, but not with abrasive or soap and a soft cloth.
The surface of such a bath is not prone to cracking, so there is no need to rub it with a stiff brush in order to get rid of accumulated dirt there. Of course, as a result of strong physical impact, cracks or chips may still appear, but no need to worry. Just buy a special product for restoration of kvaril bathtubs and treat the damaged places yourself according to the instructions for use.

Villeroy & Boch only makes kvaril bathtubs. Too bad, would have liked cheaper options.
