The question "Where to dry laundry?" is no longer so acute, because with the development of technology there are many convenient solutions to this problem. Until recently, the only suitable place for drying laundry in an urban dwelling was the balcony or ropes stretched under the ceiling, but today compact and functional dryers can be installed in any corner of the apartment.

The most suitable place to put the dryer is the bathroom. Firstly, there the hanging laundry will not be conspicuous to strangers. Secondly, the bathroom usually has a ventilation system, which helps get rid of excess moisture faster. Even if your bathroom is very small, there will still be free space to install this device, as there are models on sale that are designed specifically for small spaces.

Owners of small bathrooms should consider wall-mounted models of dryers. They are attached to the wall, so they do not need much space, and in assembled form wall-mounted dryers are almost invisible. This article is devoted to the existing varieties of wall-mounted clothes dryers, the peculiarities of their placement and installation.

Folding design - this is a modern modification of the stretched over the bath ropes, on which our mothers and grandmothers dried clothes. It consists of two plastic panels with ropes stretched between them. The panels are attached to opposite walls (most often under the ceiling). When the dryer is not needed, one part is removed from the wall and attached to the other. The ropes are automatically pulled inside the panel. Depending on the model, you have 4 to 6 rows of ropes at your disposal.

Advantages:

• low cost;
• the possibility of installation in small bathrooms and shared sanitary facilities;
• easy to use.

Cons:

• The maximum load the folding dryer can handle is 7 kg;
• Low-cost models that are not equipped with a pull-up mechanism may cause the ropes to sag under the weight of the laundry;
• Low-quality plastic can crack after just a few dryings;
• If the dryer is located very high, it will be extremely inconvenient to hang the laundry on it;
• If you hang your bedding above the heater, you will not be able to use the hot tub while it is drying.

The sliding model has a more interesting design. It is made in the form of a metal console, which folds and unfolds according to the principle of an accordion. The elements of the sliding dryer are connected with each other with reliable rivets. Between the two folding parts there are several metal tubes, which serve as holders for laundry.

Advantages:

• the ability to withstand a large weight;
• ease of use;
• can be used as a towel holder.

Cons:

• The small size of the sliding model does not allow you to dry a lot of laundry or large things on it.

Electric dryer is usually used as a towel dryer, but it can also be used to dry small items of clothing. The electric dryer is attached to the wall in any convenient place in the bathroom. It represents a kind of ladder made of metal tubes. The number of rungs may vary depending on the model.

Pros:

• wide opportunities for installation;
• If necessary, the dryer can be turned off;
• low heating temperature protects against burns;
• the possibility of using as a heater.

Cons:

• when installing and operating this type of dryers, it is necessary to follow the rules for the use of electric appliances in rooms with high levels of humidity;
• lack of space for drying large things or bed linen.

Rope dryers are considered the most economical. You can make such a dryer with your own hands, and the material (clothesline) costs very little. Rope dryers, as a rule, are long enough, so they can be used to dry clothes from several washes at once.

Steel clothes dryers usually have a chrome coating, so they look spectacular and are able to decorate the interior of the bathroom. Steel dryers are very durable and reliable. The only difficulty is to take care of them - to retain the original shine of chrome will have to buy special cleaners.

Aluminum dryers are considered a budget version of steel structures. They are also quite durable, but they weigh much less. True, and the weight of washed laundry, which they can withstand, is also significantly less.

Plastic clothes dryers, despite their lack of durability, are still popular. They are inexpensive, have a simple design and low weight. In addition, unlike all other materials, plastic is available in a wide range of colors.

Wall-ceiling laundry dryer has two options for mounting: between two opposing walls and on the ceiling. The first option is usually used for installation on the loggia, as it is problematic to attach the dryer to the ceiling there.

As holders for laundry are thin metal tubes, through which the ropes are threaded. Holders can be lowered and raised on the principle of blinds by pulling a special rope. Since parts of the design can move up and down, such a dryer is called an "elevator.

• Folding dryers can be installed on any vertical surface. If it is not needed, the dryer should simply be lifted up - so it looks like an unusual panel. By tilting the dryer, you can dry towels and small closet items on it.
• Overhead - as the name suggests such dryers are mounted directly on the door. Hooks are used as fasteners, so after use the dryer can be removed from the door and stored in a secluded place.
• Mobile dryers are also called attachable dryers. They are a folding triangular construction, which is placed on the sides of the bath. The disadvantage of such dryers is that until the clothes dry, the bath can not be used.
• For batteries - this type of dryers is fixed on heating devices by a pair of hooks. Since batteries are rare in the bathroom, such models are most often installed in other rooms and used mainly for drying towels.

• Most of us wash all the laundry accumulated over a period of time in one day, making several "approaches" to the washing machine. This puts laundry from several washes on the dryer at once. In order not to test the strength of the interior walls, choose a solid wall to install the dryer, preferably a load-bearing wall. So you'll be sure that under the weight of the wet laundry wall will not gradually crumble.
• Choosing a place for the dryer, keep in mind that from time to time it will unfold. While drying laundry, you should have free access to all plumbing fixtures and cabinets.
• Try to place the dryer as close as possible to the ventilation system - so the laundry will dry faster and the excess moisture will evaporate in time. Keep an eye on the condition of the fan and clean it periodically.

• Installation of the wall-mounted dryer should begin with choosing the most suitable location. Refer to the previous section for location requirements.
• Carefully read the installation instructions before beginning work. It contains recommendations specific to this particular dryer model.
• Now take the bracket, on which the construction will be attached, and put it on the wall in the chosen place. Through the through holes, mark the places of future fasteners.
• According to the markings on the wall, drill the required number of holes.
• Fix the brackets to the wall using the set of fasteners supplied with the kit.
• Attach the remaining parts of the dryer to the brackets, following the recommendations in the assembly instructions.

The most basic version of a homemade wall dryer is a system of hooks and ropes stretched over the font. First we buy all the necessary materials at the hardware store (instead of hooks you can use thick fishing line or beautiful wire). Then make a marking on two opposite walls, to which will be attached our dryer. We mark the locations of the hooks: they must be in one line at an equal distance from each other. After that, we drill holes, in which we then fix the hooks. Cut the rope into equal parts and stretch it between the hooks. The rope dryer is ready!

In order to build a more solid construction, you will need more free time and tools to work on wood. We will make the dryer from wooden slats with a section of 2 cm. First, you need to saw the components of the structure: cut two bars equal to the length of the bath and 6-8 bars equal to its width. Sawed bars are sanded.

Long bars are placed at a distance slightly smaller than the width of the bath and begin to nail to them, short bars. It is the short bars and will serve as holders for laundry. We must try to maintain the same distance between them, so the dryer was not only reliable, but also beautiful. The finished dryer can be painted in any color that suits the interior of your bathroom.
