How to remove the top cover of the washing machine?

Whether you have a Whirpool, LG, Ariston, Indesit or another brand of washing machine in your home, any appliance can break down. And since in many cases you may need to remove the appliance cover to diagnose the cause of the breakdown, every owner should know how to handle such a task.

Most often, disconnecting the top cover of the washing machine Indesit, LG, Ariston, Samsung, Whirlpool is the first step in repairing the product. For example, you will certainly have to remove the lid in the case of a broken door.
Here is what each owner of the machine should be aware of, going to detach its top cover:
- Before any work begins, the appliance must be de-energized.
- For full access to the machine, it should be moved away from the wall.
- You will need a Phillips head screwdriver for the job.
- The steps will vary depending on the type of machine load.

How to remove the cover on most side-loading machines
After moving the machine to be able to unscrew the screws on the back of the machine, look for the locations of the self-tapping screws on the back wall. Most models have two of these screws, but there are machines with three screws. Using a screwdriver, rotate the self-tapping screws until they are completely unscrewed. Remember that there may be plastic washers underneath, so make sure that such parts are not lost.

Once you have unscrewed the cover, you will have to force it off the machine, which will cause the cover to come out of the groove and move slightly backwards and then upwards. The cover can then be removed to the side. To put the cover back in place, do everything in reverse order, that is, first slide the cover into the grooves, then screw in the self-tapping screws.
How to remove the cover in machines with vertical loading
First, open the cover and using a screwdriver, carefully move the pins, making sure they do not fall inside the machine. Within two to four minutes, the door lock should disengage. If there are problems with this, you need to look for a malfunction in the lock. To gain access to the lock, you will have to remove the side walls. After unscrewing the screws of the locking device, press the latch, and then disconnect the wires.
Other options
In some machines, such as Ardo models, the cover must be removed in a slightly different way. After unscrewing the self-tapping screws at the back of the machine, the cover should not move to the back side, but forward (on itself, if you are facing the hatch). In this case, the cover will move only at a certain angle, which you will have to determine.
You may also encounter and option of fixing the top cover is not on the back, and on the front wall. For example, such a fastening can be found in old Siemens and Bosch machines. After removing the plugs, unscrew the self-tapping screws, then lift the cover up slightly and shift it to the front side in relation to the machine. As with Ardo machines, you will need to find an angle at which the cover can be easily detached.
