Why in the washing machine remains powder?

When the washing machine works properly, the result of washing is clean and fresh laundry. However, after some time of operation of the device, the hostess may notice that after the end of washing, badly washed, smelling damp things remain in the drum. If this happens, it is necessary, first of all, to check the detergent container. When the washer is running normally, it will be empty, but if there is a breakdown, most of the laundry detergent will remain in the feeder.
This problem is quite common. About why the laundry detergent remains in the machine and what measures you need to take to fix it, read in this article.

What to check?
In order to properly diagnose the problem, you need to conduct a thorough check. Try to find out the following points:
- Does the washing machine draw water after turning on the washing program? In order to find out this, you will need to run the washing program (you can do this with an empty drum).
- Are the water pipes blocked? The water supply may be obstructed because the valve is not fully open.
- Is the water pressure in the pipes high enough? If the pressure in the pipes is low, the water supply will be much slower than usual.
- Is the detergent in the correct compartment of the container? Some washing machine models have a powder compartment which is only activated when the prewash program is running.
- Is there a clog in the detergent dispenser? Sometimes water flows freely into the dispenser, but laundry detergent cannot get into the hose because it is clogged.
- Is the detergent dosage correct? If you use more detergent than the manufacturer recommends, the excess may not be picked up and remain in the container.
- Are you using a counterfeit detergent instead of good quality detergent? A low quality product can stick together when it comes into contact with water and not wash out of the feeder.

Typical breakdowns
- Malfunctions associated with improper use of laundry detergent. If the laundry detergent does not dissolve well in the water, it can cause clogs in the detergent feeder or in the hose through which the laundry detergent enters the drum. Household chemicals can clog various elements of the washing machine and in the case when it is poured into the container too much.
- Faults associated with the water supply. If the washing machine does not draw water or does it too slowly, the laundry detergent may not be completely flushed out of the feeder. Water supply failures are usually caused by water pipes. It could be a weak head, a clog formed, or a blocked valve.
- Faults related to clogged fittings. The hoses and nozzles through which the water and laundry products move inside the washing machine may be clogged with detergent residues, dirt or small objects. In this case, the supply of detergent can be stopped.
Causes and what to do?
Cause of malfunction |
What can be done? |
The problem is the detergent |
Only use detergent from a trusted manufacturer; adhere strictly to the dosage; rinse the detergent dispenser after each wash cycle |
Trouble in the water pipes |
Check the water supply to the washing machine, check that the water valves are open; if there is a clog in the pipes, remove it with a flexible cord or a specific product; make sure there is a good water pressure in the pipes |
Clogged fittings are the problem |
More often than not the connector that carries the washing powder into the drum is clogged; to unclog it, remove the front of the washer, loosen the clamp and carefully remove it, then rinse under running water |

Tips
If the laundry detergent poured into the container remains completely dry, it means that the water in the feeder is not coming in. If at the same time the water intake goes as usual, the breakdown may be serious. The right solution is to seek help from a specialist, as it will probably require the replacement of some parts.
