Errors of Indesit and Hotpoint Ariston washing machines
Appliances under Indesit and Hotpoint Ariston brands are manufactured by one company, Indesit Company. Their washing machines are considered of high quality and very reliable, but the appliances of any brand occasionally malfunction. The self-diagnostic system bails out the owner and makes it possible to identify the cause of the breakdown. Some models of washing machines have a display that shows the fault code. Others do not have a display, and the code is determined by the blinking of certain indicators.
Error codes
All Indesit and Hotpoint Ariston error codes are common, because they are produced by the same company. We have collected them in a table, supplemented with a deciphering and a guide to action:

Once you are sure there is water in the pipes and there is sufficient water pressure, inspect the priming system and replace the defective parts. |

The heater is broken (often the relay fails) or there is damage in its wiring. |
Check if the heater and its connections are working properly. Also check that the level sensor and electronic module are working properly. |

Frequent malfunctions
Indesit and Hotpoint Ariston brand machines break both as a result of natural wear and tear of parts and because of clogs, getting a foreign object inside the machine, careless operation or improper handling. Some problems can be corrected independently, for example, to remove the kink in the filling hose, check the correctness of the selected program, to make sure there are no foreign objects in the tank or to clear the clog in the drain hose.
It is worth contacting a professional if:
- The machine does not turn on at all and no indicators are lit.
- The duration of washing has increased or problems with certain cycles have begun.
- Something inside the machine squeaks, rattles or bangs.
- The drum has stopped rotating.
- The machine stopped spinning the laundry.
- A leak has appeared.
- While the machine is running, there is smoke or a smell of burning plastic.

Tips and prevention of breakdowns
- After the end of each wash, it is advised to shut off the water supply to the machine. Such actions will keep the hydraulic system from premature wear and will protect the technique from leaks.
- Remember that before cleaning the machine must be disconnected from the mains.
- The outside of the machine can be cleaned with a soft cloth slightly dampened in soapy warm water. Do not use abrasive or solvent-based products.
- Regularly inspect the detergent dispenser and clean it by removing the container from the machine, washing it under running water with a brush and putting the dispenser back.
- It is recommended to leave the door of the machine half-open after each wash, in order to avoid the formation of unpleasant odor inside the drum.
- Although the pump in Indesit and Hotpoint Ariston machines is self-cleaning, small items, such as buttons, may accumulate in the filter "catcher". To clean the filter, unplug the machine, remove the plinth, unscrew the lid, remove the foreign objects, then close the lid and put the plinth back in place.
- At least once a year, it is important to check the fill hose. If you find cracks in it, replace the hose without delay.
