The washing machine hums when wringing

The washing machine hums when spinning

Modern automatic washing machines work very quietly compared to the very first models, which made quite a lot of noise, especially in the process of spinning. Now the appearance of extraneous sounds is considered a signal that there is something wrong with the washing machine. If the appliance began to hum during spinning, it is necessary to immediately identify the cause. Even when the problem is not serious, it is better to fix it right away. After all, the humming is an annoying factor that interferes with your rest, and in addition, can be a cause of disturbance to your neighbors.

In this article, we will tell you about why the machine suddenly begins to hum during spinning, and how you can fix it.

Why the machine makes a lot of noise - frequent causes

Let's list the most common reasons for the appearance of hum.

Extraneous sounds when spinning can occur in the following cases:

  • before using the washing machine forgot to unscrew the bolts that should fix the tank when transporting the unit;
  • one of the bearings is worn or damaged;
  • a foreign object has entered the cavity between the tank and drum;
  • the drive belt secured to the drum pulley is loose;
  • counterweights on both sides of the drum are loose;
  • The rubber sleeve has slipped off the lip of the hatch, or it is not the correct size;
  • mistakes were made during the installation of the washing machine.

What to do?

If the cause is forgotten bolts that hold the tank, you just need to remove them. Usually these bolts fix the springs on which the tank hangs. They are located on the back of the washing machine and are easily unscrewed with a wrench.

If the matter is in a worn bearing, you should replace this part, along with the oil seal. To remove the bearing, you need to disassemble the washing machine, pull out the tank and remove the drum. To do this, read the article about, how to replace the bearing in the washing machine, or watch a video tutorial on how to replace it.

If there are foreign objects inside the appliance, it is necessary to remove them, so they do not damage the mechanism. To do this, the washing machine will also have to be disassembled to inspect the tank and remove the obstruction.

If the cause of the pulley drum, It is necessary to examine its fastening and the integrity of the strap. The fastener can become loose and the drive belt can tear as a result of prolonged use of the machine. Replace the worn belt with a new one, and tighten the loose pulley mount with improvised tools.

If the problem is with the counterweights, it is easy to correct this problem. Counterweights are needed to make the washing machine vibrate less during the spin cycle. If these design elements are faulty, the vibrations are amplified, resulting in a hum. The most common breakdown that occurs with counterweights is the loosening of the fasteners. As in the previous case, the loose fasteners simply need to be tightened.

If the rubber collar is to blame, it will be better to replace it. However, there is also a "folk" method of solving this problem. This is done with a piece of sandpaper, which is placed between the sealing cuff and the front panel. Then start the washing mode with an empty drum. After that, all you have to do is remove the sandpaper and clean the drum of bits of rubber and sandpaper. It is believed that in this way you can quickly align a substandard cuff.

If you do decide to replace the cuff, see the following video on how to do it correctly.

If the problem is not a breakage, but in a wrongly connected washing machine, you need to dismantle all connections and reconnect everything, exactly following the user's manual. If you doubt that you will be able to connect to the sewer and water pipes correctly, it is better to entrust this work to a professional.

Prevention

Having eliminated the cause of humming when wringing, you need to make sure that extraneous noises do not appear again.

To do this, try to follow simple tips:

  • You should not overload the washing machine. Load in the drum as many kilograms of laundry as this model is designed for, but no more.
  • Do not wash too often, give your helper a rest. Experts advise to run the washer no more than once a day - during the day it has time to dry and "rest".
  • Try to wash more often at the highest temperature and with the greatest number of revolutions.
  • Do not forget to periodically clean the drain filter.
  • Before loading laundry into the drum, always check that there are no small items lost in pockets or folds.

Arrange for periodic prevention of limescale and scale formation. How to carry out such prevention, see in the Ukrainian program "Everything will be good".
