Recessed taps

Built in taps

The interior of modern bathrooms is becoming more and more minimalistic. Luxurious decoration with a lot of details is gradually giving way to an austere, almost ascetic style. Minimal interior elements help to save space and make the bathroom more ergonomic. It is for this reason that the popularity of built-in furniture and plumbing equipment has increased. People are trying to hide all the "unsightly" details - the supply lines, the internal parts of the equipment - from prying eyes, disguising them in a variety of ways. One of the most popular tendencies is the use of built-in mixers.

This type of faucet is mounted directly into the wall, and only the decorative panel and control lever remain on the surface. More about this type of faucets we will discuss in this article.

Built-in Faucet

Features

The most significant advantages of recessed faucets are:

  • more even relief of the wall - on its surface there are no protruding parts, which creates a feeling of strict geometry in the interior;
  • the presence of a minimum number of functional elements on the surface of the wall - the shower hose and, often, the mixer tap itself are hidden behind a special panel;
  • space-saving - such a model of the mixer allows you to free up some space on the wall, which can be used to place any accessories;
  • possibility of free entry/exit from the bathtub - a built-in mixer does not hinder movement and allows you to use the bathtub with the greatest comfort.

The design of this model of faucets consists of two parts - an external panel and a functional mechanism, which is a special unit mounted inside the wall. You can install such a mixer wherever you see fit.

For the shower

Recessed shower mixer has a design that is slightly different from the traditional one, and is installed mainly in shower cabins.

Built-in Shower Faucet

This model is devoid of a spout, which is quite logical - in a shower box it is not needed at all, the shower head with the hose is quite enough. Thus, the flush-mounted faucet has one inlet (into which the shower hose is connected) and two outlets (into which hot and cold water is supplied).

In addition, there are built-in faucets for hygienic shower - devices that are mounted next to the toilet and allow you to replace the bidet. The kit usually includes a concealed installation faucet and a shower head with a hose that is hidden in a special hole in the wall. This model also has no spout.

For the bath

Recessed faucets, designed for baths, assume a very unusual way of installation - they are mounted directly on the edge of the bath, in any convenient place, and this is their undeniable advantage. In addition, this model of faucets has a number of advantages:

  • significantly reduce the time to set the bath, as they provide the most optimal mode of water supply;
  • free up space on the wall that can be used to install a mirror or shelf for storing bathroom accessories;
  • allow you to hide the hose from the shower head behind the bathtub rim and pull it out only when necessary.

There are two types of such faucets, which differ in the way they are installed. External mounting faucets are a monoblock that is mounted on the edge of the bathtub. Water mixing unit in this case is hidden under the bathtub rim. Concealed installation models allow you to leave only the spout and control panel on the surface, and everything else will be hidden under the bathtub.

With a thermostat

Modern manufacturing technology allows you to equip built-in faucets with intelligent functions, which brings additional comfort to our lives. One of the latest such innovations is the automatic temperature controller, or as it is also called, the thermostat. This device allows you to constantly maintain a predetermined water temperature (studies have shown that the most comfortable temperature for water procedures is 38 degrees). As soon as the water supply is started, the temperature is automatically set, which takes a fraction of a second. Some models of recessed faucets provide the opportunity to connect a thermostat, bought separately.

Concealed installation - nuances

  • In order to build a faucet into the wall, it will be necessary to make a hole in it with a drill with a drill bit for working on concrete. For standard models, a recess is usually drilled to a depth of 8.5 to 11 cm and a diameter of 12 to 15 cm.
  • Using the same equipment as in the previous point, it is necessary to drill chinks in the walls, in which later will be laid water pipes. Strobing can be avoided by hiding all the pipes behind a false wall made of plasterboard.
  • When connecting the faucet to the pipes, you need to be especially careful and take all necessary precautions. Since the construction will be fixed inside the wall, it must be as airtight as possible.
  • There are also special requirements for the pipes. Experts recommend buying pipes made of copper or polypropylene, as they are considered more reliable and durable. Pipes made of metal-plastic in this method of installation are advised to avoid.
