Installing the bidet with his hands

Installing a bidet with his hands

In the 17th century in France, the bidet was invented - a tub on legs, designed for intimate hygiene, and more specifically for washing one's private parts. Over the years, the bidet has changed and now resembles an ordinary toilet bowl, only with a mixer instead of a cistern. Resemblance to the toilet is visual, but in reality bidet should be compared to the bath or washbasin.

Features

Such a sanitary device has been popular since not too long ago. Has humanity become less hygienic? No, it hasn't. There are several reasons for its lack of popularity. First - not everyone is aware of the purpose and usefulness of the bidet. After all, it can be used not only for hygiene purposes, but also as a foot bath. This is very convenient for people who suffer from diseases of the musculoskeletal system, hemorrhoids, it is also convenient for small children and the elderly.

And these are not all the advantages. With a bidet, you won't have to take a shower or bath more often than necessary. This will save time on cleaning the bathtub.

Using a bidet

Well, the second reason for its unpopularity is the small size of the toilet room. There is simply no place to put it. But this can be corrected. Bidet installed in the bathroom or buy a toilet bowl with bidet function, which will save space.

There are cases where the bidet was purchased as an element of luxury and never used it. But now you know that the bidet allows you to create a comfortable environment after a trip to the toilet.

Using a bidet

If you are thinking about installing a bidet, know that to install it with your own hands will not be difficult. Together with this device comes an instruction manual, according to which you must strictly follow all the points. It is desirable that the instruction during the installation is in sight.

Buying a bidet begins with the choice of place in the bathroom, calculating its size, the location of waste and water pipes. Depending on the type of installation, the pipes led to the sanitary device can be open, hidden in the wall and built into the body.

The sanitary device may be floor-standing, wall-mounted and combined type with a fountain-like and downward flow of water. Different styles and functions: hair dryer, hydromassage, air deodorization, etc.

Example of bidet design in the interior

Also to connect the bidet need to stock up on a screwdriver, wrench and adjustable wrench, punch, soak, silicone sealant, tape.

Buy a bidet better at once with the toilet of the same brand. So the interior will be more harmonious. And if the toilet is already purchased, try to remember the reference number and series of the manufacturer to pick up a similar model of bidet. Type of connection of the bidet should be the same as for the toilet.

Also note that faucets are usually purchased separately.

Whichever model of hygienic device, the flush valve it has is automatic. To connect the floor bidet, you need a special fastener for the toilet, and a flexible tube serves as a connection to the sewer.

Assembling the faucet

A faucet with a floating head that rotates 360 ° C is mounted on the sanitary device. It has a special lever for opening and closing the drain. There are several types: single valve, two-valve, with a photocell, thermostatic. The last type is the best option.

The assembly of the bidet faucet is not very different from the assembly for the sink and takes place as follows:

  • Put the rubber gasket and decorative cover on the bottom of the mixer;
  • Screw the flexible hoses for warm and hot water to the faucet. Screw the pipe should be careful not to tighten too much so as not to break the seal;
  • Connect the faucet and the plumbing fixture with the studs, putting the rubber pads on them beforehand. Screw the studs by hand and then tighten with a screwdriver;
  • put a thrust metal washer on the studs and tighten the nuts on the studs;
  • install the faucet in the center and secure it with nuts;
  • Treat the joints with sealant.

Assembling the siphon

Like the faucet, the siphon is sold separately. It has different models and connection technologies, so consult with your salesperson when choosing a trap. Any model is easy to install and has a long service life. Bidet traps are made of plastic, brass and stainless steel.

Odour trap for bidet

Install the trap as follows:

  • Install the drain grate with a rubber lining;
  • Secure the grid with a nut with a wedge ring;
  • The ring of the drain pipe, lubricate with sealant and insert it into the socket of the waste pipe up to the stop;
  • Check the connection for leaks;
  • Connect the siphon to the outlet pipe and screw it on with a nut.
Wrapping the oakum

When making connections, use hemp or sanitary tape. Wound hemp on the thread strictly in her direction, in this case the wound threads will not be fluffy.

Combined with a toilet bowl

If the size of the bathroom does not allow you to connect a sanitary device, you can buy a toilet, combined with a shower, or buy a bidet cover.

WC bidet

A special nozzle is built into the rim of the bidet toilet, and in the cistern - a device with electronic control.

The nozzle extends when needed without touching the walls of the bowl. It is also self-cleaning before and afterwards under the pressure of water for a few seconds. The supply of water is carried out by means of buttons mounted on the outside of the bowl. It is very rare to find a water supply by means of pedals.

The functions of the bidet toilet are the same as those of a conventional bidet: blowing, heating.

If you are not planning to change the toilet bowl, install the lid bidet. It is the easiest to install. It is enough to connect it to the water supply and electricity, and then attach it to the toilet bowl, as an ordinary lid according to the instructions.

When the siphon and faucet are assembled, you connect the bidet itself.

It is installed in the same way as a simple toilet bowl. Plumbing device is placed in the desired location, markings are made, drilled holes, then bolted. Finally, the water supply and sewage are connected.

With ascending streams of water

Installing a bidet with a water fountain head is more complicated. The fact is that the water circulates inside the rim of the cover, heating it. Actuated regulating mechanism pushes the water with a fountain upwards

Such a device is equipped with a special pipe, which does not suck into itself the used water pouring on the fountain.

Before connecting the bidet, assemble and connect the water regulator, and then connect the water supply and sewer. After that, the plumbing fixture is secured.

Upward-flowing bidet

Suspended

Built-in bidet has its own advantages:

  1. Concealed communication, which can not spoil the design of the bathroom with its appearance.
  2. Saving space in the room. The bidet bowl does not protrude forward as much, which saves a little space. This is a great option for small rooms.
  3. Easy to clean the room, since this plumbing fixture does not rest on the floor.
  4. And, of course, simple installation.

A hanging bidet consists of a supporting frame and a bowl. The installation is the support of the bowl, as well as the place where the bidet is installed. It allows you to accurately adjust the height of the sanitary device.

The procedure for installing the wall-hung bidet is as follows:

  • Prepare a niche for the installation. To do this, a notch is made in the wall according to the size of the supporting frame;
  • Bring plumbing and sewage systems;
  • Install the installation, attaching the lower legs to the floor, and the upper fasteners to the wall;
  • Connect the branch of the installation to the sewer system, secure the plumbing to the bar and screw into the support frame studs. On the studs will be mounted bowl;
  • Sheet the niche with gypsum board;
  • Attach the bowl and connect the bidet to the water and sewer pipes. Between the wall and the bowl, be sure to put the rubber or silicone gasket that comes with the installation. It will be a buffer that will protect the wall and the bowl from breaking, as well as compensate for the load on the installation studs;
  • Secure the bidet by tightening the nuts.

If the rubber pad is not included, you can make it yourself. Take regular silicone in tubes and apply it around the perimeter of the bowl. When the silicone dries, you can fix the bidet.

There are nuances in tightening the nut. If you tighten it too much, the drywall will sag, and if you don't tighten it enough, the bidet will dangle. The main thing here is to find the golden mean.

Mounting the drain in the floor

As mentioned above, the faucet on the bidet is mounted as on the sink, and the drain is connected as well as the long-known toilet bowl. And the recommended floor drain is done as for the shower.

Floor drain

The purpose of the drain is to remove water from the floor, to prevent dampness and mold formation. The design is advised to do during the repair of the entire floor in the room, because it will be necessary to work on waterproofing and screed.

In the installation of the drain is used a special drain made of brass, steel or plastic, which connects to the drain. The drain must necessarily be strong and resistant to corrosion.

Floor drain

At the beginning of the work remove a small section of the floor, and then lay a waterproofing. Connect the water drain pipe to the sewer outlet and check for leaks.

Put a layer of insulation, such as Styrofoam, on top and fill with cement mix.

Make sure the drain funnel is tight against the floor. When the cement dries, you can start the finishing work.

Installing the drain

You can summarize. When connecting the bidet, consider the type of construction and location of the drain. Buy a plumbing fixture with instructions in an understandable language and strictly follow it. If the bathroom is not large, use bidet covers or bidet toilets. Make a drain in the floor, the water will run off, preventing dampness in the room.
