Today on the market of construction materials there are many companies that produce ceiling coatings for various functional purposes. One of the most successful and popular is the company Armstrong. Armstrong ceiling tile is an economical, beautiful and modern solution for any office.

Features .

How does the ceiling tile differ from other coatings? The first and very important plus - the fast suspension system allows you to beautifully decorate even a very uneven ceiling, hide cracks, chips and other flaws.

The advantages of Armstrong tiles include:

  • quick installation (the tile is simply placed on the suspension system, it can be taken out at any time and replaced with a new one if necessary);
  • lightness (1 sq.m. tile weighs from 2.7 to 8 kg, depending on the material);
  • low cost (compared to other materials, such as lath or stretch ceiling);
  • easy care (mineral fiber tiles do not require special care, in a few years it can be painted with water-emulsion paint or simply replaced by a new one);
  • additional sound insulation;
  • a wide range of tiles with different textures and a rich range of colors;
  • fire safety;
  • the possibility of using any lighting fixtures.

Among the disadvantages are:

  • reducing the height of the ceiling by about 8-10 cm;
  • low coefficient of moisture resistance (does not apply to special types of board);
  • brittleness and fragility.

Characteristics

The most popular and inexpensive Armstrong ceiling tiles are made of mineral fiber (stone wool, treated in a special way). Special additives make it possible to produce tiles with different performance and physical and mechanical characteristics.

The boards are produced with three different types of edges:

  1. Board (flat-edged tile, universally suitable for different types of suspension systems);
  2. Tegular (Board with stepped edge, used for 24 mm wide grid);
  3. Microlook (tile with step, compatible with the suspension system, where the width of the shelf is 15 mm).

Produced tiles have standard sizes 600*600mm or 600*1200mm, thickness - 8-25mm, weight 2.7-8kg per 1 square meter.

Variety of materials

Mineral fiber - a very popular, but not the only material for creating Armstrong ceiling tiles.

Collections of this brand include a tile of the following materials:

  1. Plasterboard. This material is excellent for finishing household and utility rooms of large volume. The tile is quite democratic in price. Not recommended for use in rooms with high humidity.
  2. Mineral wool. The main advantages of the board made of this material are high soundproofing and thermal insulation capacity. Due to this, the board is often used in concert halls or studios.
  3. Aluminum. Lightweight, practical metal tile is not at all afraid of water, so it is well suited for lining bathrooms or rooms with high humidity. Aluminum tile has high strength, durability, aesthetic appeal. Of the disadvantages - a relatively high cost in comparison with counterparts made of other materials.
  4. Glass. An excellent material for the realization of the most courageous and original design ideas. Glass ceilings can be matte or glossy, solid or broken up into tiny mosaic fragments, monochrome or multicolored. Glass tiles look great not only in the living room, bedroom or kitchen, but also in entertainment centers, cinemas and nightclubs.
  5. Plastic. PVC tile is an inexpensive, practical and beautiful material for ceiling design. The pluses of the material include resistance to moisture and the appearance of mold. Disadvantages: high combustibility and the release of harmful substances during combustion. Therefore, such tiles are recommended to be installed mainly in nonresidential premises.
  6. Laminated plywood. An excellent option for wet rooms. The advantages of the material: lightness, practicality, durability. Such material is easy to paint, the ceiling can be updated as often as you want. The material is environmentally friendly and safe for the environment.
  7. Waste paper. Used pressed paper is excellent for creating noise and heat insulation boards for residential, public and industrial premises.
  8. Wood. Excellent thermal insulation and aesthetic appeal are the main advantages of a wooden ceiling. Pre-treatment with special agents against fungus and mold allows the use of such a board even in rooms with high humidity (baths, saunas).

Dimensions

Armstrong ceiling tile is available in two main sizes: 600x600 and 600x1200 mm. The first option is much more popular due to the fact that the rectangular tile differs from the square one in that it is noticeably more fragile.

These are well-known figures, which actually differ from the actual (610x610 and 610x1219 mm). The thickness of the tiles may vary depending on the material and its functional purpose from 8 to 25 mm.

To determine the required number of tiles for the design of the ceiling covering, it is necessary to divide its area by the area of one tile and add a small reserve for scraps and trimmings.

Popular models

Armstrong company offers a wide and diverse selection of boards for residential and industrial premises. The board can have different sizes, differ in manufacturing material, properties, color, texture.

Among the most popular models of boards are several:

1. baikal. Most often it is this board can be found in office and industrial premises. Externally, the pattern looks like dark wormholes chaotically scattered on a white background.

2. oasis. Ideal for those who don't like traditional "wormholes." A white slab with a rough surface.

3. Tatra. Externally reminiscent of Baikal. It has better noise insulation properties. Available in 2 edging variants (Board and Tegular).

4. The next series is called "Prima".

It is more expensive due to improved characteristics:

  • 6 different types of surfaces;
  • compatibility with all three types of edges;
  • durability, resistance to mechanical damage;
  • good acoustic characteristics;
  • high moisture resistance.

Special series:

  1. Acoustic (Ultima, Optima, Sabia). The use of this board allows you to significantly reduce the noise level and create a favorable environment for work.

Color solutions

Traditionally used in offices, the board is usually painted white. The classic coloring is universally suited to a variety of interior styles. The white color makes the room lighter, airy, and allows you to visually make it more spacious.

Armstrong offers its customers a wide and varied range of colors in which you can buy ceiling tiles for home and office. If it is a wooden tile, then all shades of natural wood (from golden beige to dark brown) are presented here.

If it is PVC tiles, then it is a pastel range (light green, blue, beige, mint, sandy and other colors).

Aluminum ceilings are often made in gold, chrome, mirror finish. Such tiles look especially spectacular in combination with their matte colored or white counterparts.

To create a bright, modern interior is perfectly suited aluminum or plastic tiles, held out in rich shades of red, blue, yellow, turquoise, lettuce and other colors. To make the interior not seem too heavy, bright tiles can be combined with light.

One of the most beautiful and stylish options is a ceiling with a photo print. The tile has a pattern imitating, for example, a starry sky, rainbow, clouds. A mosaic of such tiles can be placed in the central part of the ceiling, and at the edges lay an ordinary tile. It will turn out a very interesting and unusual design solution.

Examples of tiles in the bathroom interior

The interior of the bathroom is made in warm golden-beige tones. The overall picture is harmoniously complemented by "gold" aluminum Armstrong tile, which looks great with spot and wall lights, sustained in the same color scheme.

To diversify even the most modest and restrained interior of the bathroom will help the original solution of the ceiling covering. For example, a huge bright butterfly on the background of tree branches with the first spring leaves and snow-white buds. Correctly located lights make the picture even more spectacular and naturalistic.

The ceiling is decorated with a designer tile depicting the signs of the zodiac and a scattering of small, glittering stars. The black mirrored tile harmonizes perfectly with the dark tiles of the bathroom.
