Spare parts for gas water heaters

Most often, the purchase of a gas water heater is thought about the owners of a private or holiday home, but city residents are also interested in such equipment. Modern water heaters are affordable, reliable and compact. But as any appliance can break down, it does not matter if you use a device from Electrolux or Bosch, or if you bought a speaker Vector, Neva, Oasis, Astra or another manufacturer. In the case of a breakdown, the owner is faced with the question of repair and the purchase of the necessary spare parts.

The main spare parts that may be required for the repair of the gas column, are:

1. Burner. This part is located inside the unit under the heat exchanger and is needed to heat water. Often enough, the burner gets dirty and needs to be cleaned regularly. However, there are situations when this part has to be replaced with a new one.
2. Heat exchanger. This is one of the main parts of the speaker, made of copper (considered the best option) or steel. Replacement of the heat exchanger may be required when there are fistulas or the formation of excess scale inside this part, if the node can not be soldered or cleaned.
3. Water-Gas Assemblies. This part of the heater is responsible for regulating the flow of both water to the heat exchanger and gas fuel to the main burner. In many models it is represented by separate units - gas and water. The gas assembly may require replacement of the spark plug, wick, piezo igniter or burner. The most common problem with the water unit is damage to the diaphragm. There may also be leaks due to damaged gaskets. Complete replacement of the assembly is performed if it is ruined or if local repairs cannot be made.
4. Safety sensors. They are also some of the key parts of the speaker, necessary to protect the unit from overheating, lack of traction, gas leaks and other problems. The safety system may require replacement of the overheat sensor, thermocouple, solenoid valve or other sensors.
5. Feeding hoses. Any owner of such equipment will need special flexible hoses for installation of the column, which are supplemented with gaskets and fittings. They easily withstand heat, are resistant to fracture and cross-compression. Thanks to these hoses, the column is quickly connected to both the gas line and the water supply system.
6. The ignition system. In speakers with piezo ignition sometimes you need to replace the piezo element. In units with automatic ignition you need to regularly replace the batteries.
7. Air duct. This part of the speaker is important for the removal of combustion products from the unit in the ventilation shaft or through the wall to the outside (if it is a turbine speaker with a coaxial pipe). The air duct can be corrugated or made of steel (galvanized or coated with heat-resistant enamel). The length of the duct can be up to three meters, and the diameter is chosen taking into account the capacity of the speaker and the number of points of water supply served by the device.

• To make the heat exchanger of the column serve for a longer time, it is worth paying attention to water hardness (sometimes it is recommended to install filters and use softeners) and its temperature (maximum heating is undesirable, because it stimulates the deposition of scum).
• Installation of all elements related to the gas supply of the column should only be carried out by specialists.
• It is important to take care of sufficient ventilation of the room in which the heater is located.
• If the heater will be turned off for a long time in an unheated room, its heat exchanger must be empty, otherwise the freezing of water will lead to the rupture of the tubes of this part.
