Replacement of the gas water heater

The device that uses natural gas to work, is considered the most profitable option of the water heater. If there is a need to replace the old heater with a new one, the owner of the equipment should know what documents are needed for this and what work is required.

Replacing the old speaker with new equipment is decided if:

• The device does not turn on at all.
• The main components of the speaker are out of order.
• Want to replace an outdated model with a more modern one.

• Installation of the gas heater should be done by professionals who know how to work with gas equipment.
• If the water heater is in the bathroom, and so is often the case in old houses built in the 50-60s, it is not necessary to transfer it, although the installation of new columns in such a room is not recommended because of the insufficient volume (it must be at least 15 m3) and the lack of a window.
• It is important to make sure that the ventilation of the room is sufficient.
• If you want to hide the new speaker behind decorative panels, you should make sure that they are non-combustible and easy to remove.

On average, you need to pay about 3000-5000 rubles for the installation of the speaker. Depending on the model and manufacturer, the price may be lower or higher. Separately, you pay extra for work on the removal of the old device (it costs about 300-800 rubles).

The cost of replacing the speaker includes a call to a specialist at home to disconnect the equipment from the communications, remove the speaker, as well as the installation and connection of a new device. The master also takes a fee for work on the adjustment of the column.

The cost of the work will be higher if:

• Need to additionally buy any materials for installation.
• It is necessary to carry out additional plumbing work.
• Requires replacement of the chimney.
• Need to replace the gas faucet.

If a new heater is installed to replace the old one, the following documents are required:

• A copy of the project from the housing and utilities department, which notes the location of the column, the features of gas and water supply, as well as smoke extraction.
• Passport for the new speaker. If you have not yet purchased the device, you can simply specify the model.
• Act on the condition of the chimney.
• Statement to the gas service of the need to replace the equipment with the preservation of the previous place of installation.
• Application for permission to work on the gas main.

Works on the column replacement begin with the dismantling of the old equipment:

• First, disconnect the gas supply and unscrew the gas hose.
• Then shut off the water supply by screwing the appropriate tap.
• After that, the heater is disconnected from the chimney.
• Once the equipment is completely disconnected from the communications, the speaker is removed from the mounts.

To perform the installation of a new gas column is quite acceptable with their own hands, but with the exception of connecting the device to the gas (this must be done by a licensed specialist).

Independent actions of the owner of the column will be as follows:

• If necessary, prepare the wall for the installation of new equipment, as well as replace the fixtures.
• Hanging the device on the prepared place, begin to connect the communication systems in turn - first the chimney and then the water supply hose.
• Invite a specialist to connect the gas hose, install the shut-off valve and register the heater.
• After making sure that there is sufficient draft, no smell of gas and no leaks, start the equipment.
• Perform adjustment of the water supply and the power of the device.

• For a new heater to work for a long time without problems, it is important not to forget about its regular maintenance (recommended frequency - every 12 months).
• You should not allow an excessive increase in the temperature of water heating by the unit, as this will accelerate the process of scale formation inside the heat exchanger.
• If the water pressure in the water supply is too low, the installation of a pump is recommended.
