Gas water heater in the house

Why does not it light up?

A possible reason for such a malfunction can be:

  • Full discharge of the batteries. This problem occurs only with speakers with automatic ignition.
  • Failure of the piezo element in speakers with this type of ignition.
  • Oxidation of contacts or electrodes in the automatic ignition system.
  • Lack of draught in the ventilation shaft.
  • Insufficient water pressure in the water supply.
  • Damage to the membrane in the water unit.
  • Lack of gas supply.

What to do?

  • Check the condition of the batteries and if necessary replace them.
  • Check the draft with a lighted match. If there is no flame movement, call a specialist to clean the well.
  • Make sure that the water flowing into the water heater has sufficient pressure. To do this you need to open the cold water tap, and if the pressure will be higher than from the hot water tap, then the problem is not in the pressure in the water supply. If the water flows equally bad, contact the utility, flush the filters and clean the pipes.
  • Check the condition of the diaphragm by disassembling the water assembly. If deformations or cracks are detected, replace the part with a new one.
  • If the heater does not light because there is no gas supply, contact the gas service.
