The gas water heater does not turn on

Among the different types of water heaters, gas water heaters are the most in demand due to their ease of operation, as well as efficient and economical operation. But like any technique, a flow heater can also break down. And very often when it breaks, the device does not turn on at all. However, this situation is not always due to a malfunction of the device itself.

Possible causes
The problem with the ignition of the heater can arise from:
- Lack of draught. A special sensor in the heater reacts to the situation when there is an accumulation of combustion products or a foreign object inside the ventilation duct and the draught is impaired. As a result, gas will not be fed to the burner.
- Discharged batteries. This cause often appears in devices with electric ignition, working on batteries. Although many companies state that the batteries need to be replaced only once a year, in practice, many owners of boilers have seen that such manipulation is required more often.
- Weak water pressure. In this case, the cause will be insufficient water pressure in the water system. In addition, the flow of water can interfere with the clogging of the cleaning filters.
- Deformation or damage of the membrane. This part of the speaker is most often worn out and requires regular replacement.

What to do?
- Check the draft in the ventilation duct of the speaker. When you open the vent, place your palm or a burning match near the chimney hole. If the draft is normal, you can feel the air moving with your palm, or you can see that the flame is deflected or extinguished. If the draft is bad, you need to clean the duct (this task should be entrusted to professionals).
- Check the condition of the batteries and if they are dead, replace them.
- Check the flow of water into the speaker. To do this, open the cold water tap in the sink. If the pressure is weak, this is the cause of the problem with the speaker turning on. You should also check the filters, and if a clog is detected, clean it, and if the contamination is very strong, replace the filters with new ones.
- Check the condition of the diaphragm and, if necessary, replace it with a new part.
