Gas water heaters, working from gas cylinders

If there is no centralized gas supply, you have to heat water and cook food with the help of gas columns and stoves that can run on a gas cylinder.
What kind of gas is in a gas cylinder?
The gas cylinder used to heat water contains such gases as propane and butane. They are byproducts of refining oil, gasoline and gas. Cylinders can contain only technical butane or a mixture of butane and propane, which can be summer and winter.
Compression of these gases transforms them into a smaller volume liquid (and therefore this gas is called liquefied gas), and when the pressure drops, this liquid begins to transform into a vapor. Since increasing temperature causes a strong expansion of liquefied gases, the cylinder is usually filled to 85% of its volume, so there is always a layer of vaporous gas above the liquid gases.

Why are they often used at the cottage?
For dachas, choosing a heater that uses cylinder gas as its energy source often acts as the only way to get hot water in dacha conditions. In situations where there is no mains gas line to the dacha, as well as there are problems with the electricity grid, a gas heater of this type will be a real salvation.

Consumption
When operating the water heater connected to a gas cylinder, on average, one gas cylinder with a capacity of 50 liters is enough for a daily minimum supply of hot water for two or three people for a month.
Connecting to a cylinder of liquefied gas
First of all, you need to make sure that your gas boiler is set to use the gas that is present in the cylinder. If required, carry out work on the resetting of the heater with the replacement of the nozzles manifold and assess the tightness of connections. The date of readjustment and the type of gas that can be used in the unit must be marked on the equipment.
The cylinder, which will be connected to the gas column, must be equipped with a reducer with a stabilization pressure of 300 mm water column, as well as a minimum vapor phase capacity of 1 m³ per hour. Also pay attention to the selection of the hose - its length should be up to two and a half meters, and the inner diameter should be 12 millimeters. It is important to buy a hose that will withstand the work with the column on the gas cylinder.

When installing the hose, it should not be kinked or twisted. If the hose has to be installed with a bend, use adapters for this and watch the radius of the bend (it should not be less than 90 mm in its outer line). In addition, the hose should not bend within 50 mm of the ends of the tips.
The installation of the gas shut-off valve should be carried out in front of the column so that this valve can be easily reached. After completing the installation work, the hose and other connections must be checked to detect any leaks in time. Only then can the speaker be used to heat water.
