Rollers for the shower cabin with their own hands

Rollers for the shower enclosure with their own hands

The type of roller largely depends on the required tools, materials and other components.

We will consider the process of self-made on the example of a standard cabin:

  1. Take a thin heat shrink, cut one or more rings from it, the width of each of which should be equal to the width of your bearing. Put it on the screw, as close to the cap as possible. This will compensate for any play.
  2. To make the heat shrink fit better, simply warm it up with an ordinary lighter.
  3. Hold the nut down with pliers, and slide the bearing on. In the case of the non-self-locking nut, a little glue will be needed to keep it from unscrewing.
  4. The roller can be considered almost complete, but an important element is missing - the tire. Opening and closing the door should not be noisy, and if the wheel will be tight to the rail, then the bearings will not have to fear corrosion. Therefore, use heat shrink tubing that is slightly larger in diameter than the bearing.
  5. Cut a ring to the same width as the bearing but with a small 2-5 millimeter allowance.
  6. Again use a lighter to hold the element in place. If you need more than one ring, do this with each one.
  7. Put the wheel on the caliper. This is where you need to remove the inner rim from the old wheel and the screw. In its place screw the manufactured device, mount the spacer washer, if it is necessary. This will compensate for the protrusion of the new wheel. Take the nut and use it to fix the caliper from the back.
