The optimum and the highest temperature in the sauna

What is the optimum and the highest temperature of the sauna?

In bathing it is important not only to learn how to relax and enjoy the sauna, but also to understand how to choose the temperatures for yourself. Not only the optimal and maximum temperatures in the sauna are taken into account, but also the humidity in the sauna.

What should the different types of saunas be like?

There are several different types of steam rooms. They all differ according to the maximum and optimal temperature, as well as the percentage of humidity. In order to really get healthy, you need to choose the right temperature regime.

Russian bath

The Russian bath is commonly referred to as a steam room. There may not be any difference between the temperature inside and outside. Optimum temperature mode helps to maintain the furnace and heater. Minimum - 60, and maximum - 90 degrees.

If the visitor is already experienced, he will not feel any discomfort in the steam room even at a temperature higher than 90 degrees. To achieve the desired level of humidity, you need to pour water on the hot stones.

Another distinctive feature of such a bath is the use of brooms (in Russia it has long been a tradition).

Finnish sauna

In the Finnish sauna, the temperature norm ranges from 70 to 110 degrees. If you compare with the Russian bath, the humidity level here is lower by 5-10%. It is recommended to visit such a steam room not more than 2 times with a duration of 5 to 10 minutes.

It is better to immediately check with a doctor, because some people are simply contraindicated to such high temperatures.

Turkish Hamam

The humidity in the Turkish hamam reaches up to 100%. The average temperature here is not high, so you can sit in the steam room all day long.

Such a bath is suitable for almost anyone.

Infrared sauna

The infrared sauna does not have high temperatures. Here you can regulate the humidity and choose between a dry and a humid mode. The main effect of this procedure is that the body is heated by infrared radiators.

You can compare the humidity in the varieties of sauna in the percentage ratio:

  • In the Russian sauna it is from 50 to 90%;
  • Finnish sauna - from 5 to 15%;
  • in the Turkish hamam - from 80 to 100%;
  • in an infrared sauna - from 40 to 60%.

When a person comes to the sauna for the first time, it is recommended to spend no more than 5 minutes in it. Over time, the body trains and begins to tolerate higher temperature regimes.

In general, you should steam for no more than half an hour. To warm up the body as much as possible, it is worth periodically changing positions.

Maximum temperature possible

Depending on which of the rooms a person is in, the temperature regime will vary. There are a changing room, a pre-bath and a steam room. In each subsequent room, starting with the changing room, there is an increase in temperature. The temperature difference between the pre-bath and the steam room can be more than 40 degrees, so you should be careful when entering the latter.

In the changing room you usually create a room temperature of 23-25 degrees Celsius. In the pre-bath it is 27-30 degrees Celsius. And in the steam room, the temperature regime is adjusted according to the client's wishes, as well as the type of building.

The temperature increases gradually so that the body adapts to the new conditions. If there is a swimming pool, the water in it should not be warm. The optimal variant - is a cool water (from 15 degrees).

There is a dependence of the time a person can spend in the steam room, on the temperature regime. To this end, research has been conducted. There are some results on this subject.

  • At 71 degrees Celsius, the body will be able to stand in the conditions of the steam room for no more than an hour.
  • Once the thermometer column rises to 82 degrees, the endurance is enough for 45-50 minutes.
  • At 93 degrees the maximum holding time was about 30 minutes.
  • If the temperature is around 100 degrees, then a person can spend in the steam room for no more than 20-25 minutes.

Normal breathing is maintained up to 110-116 degrees Celsius. Further on, there is simply a lack of oxygen. Record holders can sit at 130 degrees, but not for very long.

The tolerance of the maximum temperature may depend on the body as a whole. Someone sits in the bath for hours at a temperature of 70-80 degrees, and someone does not withstand even 10 minutes. Additionally the endurance is determined by the experience of taking such procedures.

For the temperature regime in the steam room must necessarily follow, so that such a procedure does not lead to undesirable consequences. In the room are usually installed devices that record the temperature and humidity levels. If the humidity is insufficient, it is recommended to pour more water on the stones. When you feel unwell, it is better to go down to the lower shelf and sit away from the stove.

Which is dangerous?

Taking bathing procedures can raise the temperature of the human body as a whole. For literally the first 5-10 minutes the surface of the body heats up, and after that the heat goes to the organs. Periodically it is advisable to wipe off the sweat.

It is worth remembering that With increasing temperature the circulation of blood accelerates, resulting in an increase in pressure. Visiting the steam room is useful first of all for those who have numbness of the limbs.

If there are serious problems with the cardiovascular system, then with a visit to the sauna is better to postpone, because it will lead to undesirable consequences.

With the following diseases it is also recommended to refrain from bathing procedures:

  • obesity;
  • oncology;
  • epilepsy;
  • asthma;
  • colds;
  • allergies.

Additionally, people who have circulatory problems, suffer from brain diseases and ischemia should avoid going to the sauna.

For more effective sweating it is suggested to drink more tea and different herbal infusions. At the end of each of the treatments it is recommended to make a contrast, and you can start patting the brooms after the second run.

If the body has warmed up a bit, you should do a massage. It will help eliminate toxins from the body faster and improve the blood flow. It is advisable before the massage procedure not to go into a cold room, and do not drink cold drinks.

The massage is done either on their own for 10-15 minutes, or by a specialist (the procedure may take from 20 minutes to an hour).

Be sure to wash and take a shower with warm water after the procedure.
