Towel racks in the bathroom

The final stage of repair in the apartment is the selection of all kinds of accessories. This occupation is very pleasant, because the most difficult work is over and now it remains only to complement the interior with bright details. The process of choosing bathroom accessories is especially important, because we will use these items every day.
A few minutes spent in the bathroom in the morning help us to tune in to the working day, gain energy and positive attitude, and a relaxing shower in the evening calms the nerves and helps to prepare for bed. We spend a lot of time in the bathroom, so we should pay as much attention to the interior design of this room as to the kitchen or living room. There is one main requirement for bathroom accessories - they must be not only beautiful, but also functional.
Towel racks are an element of the interior, which is usually purchased among the last. And quite in vain, because today there is a huge variety of models, from the simplest to the original design designs that can set the tone of the entire bathroom interior.

Types of towel racks and locations
Overhead
Such a rack is purchased when there is no free space on the floor and walls of the room and you have to use all the available surfaces. You can hang a few single hooks on the door or attach a long bar with hooks. This option is considered the most budget-friendly. The disadvantage is that when folded, towels dry very slowly. A more modern alternative to hooks is a coat rack in the form of a ring, which can also be installed on the door.

Floor
Can be mobile or stationary. Is a rack with several holders for towels. Manufactured from metal, plastic, less often - from wood and other natural materials. Buying such a rack, make sure that your bathroom has enough space to accommodate it. The number of towel racks on the rack should correspond to the number of family members - so that each towel can be unfolded for faster drying.

Wall Mounted
In almost any bathroom you will find a place to place a towel rack on the wall. That is why this option is considered the most popular. There are two varieties of wall hangers:
- tubular hanger - Most hangers are made of metal, usually in the form of a ladder, and the crossbars are not one above the other, but usually arranged diagonally, which provides a faster drying time of the towels;
- hanger-turner - Has movable holders that can be pushed aside if necessary; when folded, it takes up practically no space, and when unfolded it can hold several towels.

Design
A beautiful and harmonious look in a room decorated in the same style. This statement is especially relevant for the bathroom, where every detail is in sight.
That is why it is important to choose accessories that match other elements of the interior - wall and floor decoration, plumbing, furniture, door handles, etc.

You should choose a towel holder after you have formed an idea of the style and color design of your bathroom. It is better if you buy towel bars together with soap dishes, faucets, curtain rod and other accessories. In this way, the different parts will echo each other - as they should in a well thought-out interior.

A huge selection of towel racks allows you to find the right model for any bathroom. A room decorated in a modern style will suit large, chrome-plated towel racks of regular shapes. In a rustic bathroom wooden hangers or stylized hooks will look great. For classic interiors, stores offer a large selection of towel racks with gold or brass plating.

Those who like to attract attention with unusual and bright details will like designer towel racks. They can be very different: in the form of trees or deer antlers, human figures or funny animals. About how to make an original towel rack, we will tell you below.

Ways of installation
- Open. This method is usually used to install the simplest models, such as hooks or wall hangers-slats, in the design of which there are through holes for fasteners. Installation of open method is very simple: the hanger is attached to the place of installation, through the holes are marked mounting points. Then according to the markings drill holes in the wall or door and fix the hanger on screws.
- Concealed. A more modern method, which is now used very often. It allows you to hide from view all the fasteners, which gives the design a finished and aesthetic appearance. The models of the open method of installation are supplied with fasteners, which are mounted in the way we described above. Then the hanger itself is installed on these mounts.
- Mounting on a suction cup. Inexpensive plastic models are usually attached to the suction cup. Since "velcro" is a very unreliable attachment, you should not dry large towels on such a hanger. Use it as a towel holder for face and hands. The advantage of this method of attachment - the hanger can be quickly removed and there will not be a trace of it on the wall.

How to make a towel rack with your own hands?
You can make an original towel rack from any improvised materials, you only need to call on the help of your imagination. In this section, we will tell you some interesting ideas that even a novice designer will be able to implement.
Wooden towel rack. This rack is good for rooms with monochrome walls. To begin with, draw a sketch of the tree on paper, providing a few leaves-hooks for towels. Then transfer the outline of the drawing to the wall. The outline can be painted over with any paint, but such a rack looks especially spectacular in black and white. On a glue gun, attach hooks for towels (hooks should be chosen the same color as the wood itself).

Clip-on hanger. A good idea for the design of the cottage or bath house. You probably have a few large wooden clothespins stashed somewhere, on which our mothers and grandmothers dried towels. Try sticking a few of these clothespins in a row on a wall or door (you can paint them bright colors beforehand). If you fix the clothespins with double-sided tape or construction adhesive, you can hang not very large towels on them. And if you manage to attach a clothespin to a small self-tapping screw, it can even support the weight of a terry-cloth bathrobe.

Hanger with straps. Such a hanger will appeal to men, because it looks really brutal and minimalistic. To make it, you need an old leather belt (preferably black or brown) and a sawn wooden stick - you can find a suitable one in the nearest forest or park, or you can use cuttings from garden tools. Drill two holes in the wall a little shorter than the length of the stick. Cut two equal strips from the strap and make loops out of them. Secure the loops to the wall with screws and put the stick through them.
